Do It Like A Chef: Chiffonade

Chiffonade is a simple knife cut. It’s a slice of leafy greens like spinach, romaine lettuce or fresh leafy herbs such as basil, mint or parsley. The key to a great chiffonade is having a razor sharp knife.

Chiffonade lettuce and herbs have a wide variety of uses. Chiffonade mint is a great garnish for the top of a strawberry shortcake or hummus. Basil chiffonade can be used for topping salads, soups and strawberries with balsamic. Chiffonade lettuces make a great last minute addition to creamy vegetable dishes.
