A FEW TIPS ON STORING YOUR BAKED GOODS
Our breads are made without harsh chemical additives, preservatives, artificial colors or flavors. Therefore, you won’t get the same shelf-life you might find from the mass produced, commercially prepared breads you’ll find at the grocery store. Sisquoc Baking company breads and bagels are best consumed the day you receive them. Here are a few tips on preserving the freshness and flavor of your breads.
Paper not plastic. Don’t put bread or bagels in plastic bags until you are ready to store them at the end of the day you received them. Breads stored in plastic will lose their crispy crust very quickly.
Bread freezes well. Wrap extra bread in several layers of plastic wrap or in a plastic freezer bag and store for up to a month in your freezer.
Don’t let bagels sit out at room temperature for more than one day. They get stale quickly and the toppings can get soggy when wrapped in plastic and left on the counter. Wrap and freeze whatever you don’t eat on the day you receive them.
Toast em’ up. A slightly stale bagel can be rescued when toasted or heated in the oven.
To slice or not to slice, that is the question: if you are going to eat your bagels that day then I would get it sliced but if you’re not sure, then it’s better to receive them whole and slice as needed. A sliced bagel will get stale much quicker.
This bread is excellent for croutons and French toast.
